I designed this pattern to be easy for beginners and as an opportunity for knitters to practice a variety of textures! It utilizes stockinette, seed stitch and garter stitch textures throughout the pattern. Because the first and last segment is knit with stockinette, the edges will curl once the cowl is completed. If you like this look, it can be left as is for a design element! Otherwise, I recommend blocking to straighten out your edges.

The Layla Cowl is knit seamlessly in the round and is a very quick knit due to the thickness of the yarn. When I was first developing the pattern, I only needed two days to complete the project.

For styling, I recommend wrapping the cowl around your neck twice. Because the yarn is pretty thick, the Layla Cowl is great for keeping you warm!

This pattern is named after our dog Layla, a playful and sweet Black Labrador Retriever. A photo of her is attached for anyone who would love to see her!
