The Loneliness of Dusk is a top down symmetrical shawl and includes instructions for two sizes. The design features stockinette, ribbing, a knotted textured section and a picot bind off. Its a fun, dramatic project that all of my testers fell in love with! You can knit yours up in one color or two, either way its going to be beautiful.

When I saw the color way for Boardwalk Lights I was immediately reminded of many summer nights growing up in Baltimore City. The speckles of color on that blue background took me back to summer nights spent watching the sky get purple trough the haze of the city lights while the golden specks of lightening bugs emerged from the sun warmed grass. You probably call them fire flies, but to me they will always be lightening bugs.

Finished Measurements
The small size is 52” from tip to tip and 18” from top to bottom point after wet blocking. the large is 64” from point to point and 28” from top to bottom point after wet blocking.

Gauge
22 stitches and 34 rows in 4” of stockinette after wet blocking.

Recommended Yarn
Approximately 420-840 yards of fingering weight yarn in a solid, semi solid or speckled yarn. The textured stitches shine best with a subtle color way but the larger size works very well with a more vibrant color way for the rest of the shawl body, as shown in the larger sample. The small sample was knit using one skein of Djinni sock from Dragonfly Fibers in their color way “Boardwalk Lights”. The larger sample was knit using two skeins of Pixie single ply from Dragonfly Fibers in their color ways “Starry Night” and “Golden Compass”.

Needle Size
US size 5/3.75 mm circular needles with a 32” cord or size needed for gauge and to accommodate stitches.
