The Mini Sock pattern is a versatile, classic pattern designed especially for little people. The fine yarn used produces cute lightweight, well-fitted socks for newborns, toddlers and even up to 4-5 year olds, who may not be quite so “mini” anymore. The pattern can easily be modified with different surface designs to give a variety of aesthetic changes; four options are included here in the one pattern. The beauty of the Mini Socks is that they have a snug fit, and are less likely to fall off; just like adult socks, but in miniature.

If knitting socks for a child who is able to walk, choose a specific sock yarn like Arwetta. (These yarns are reinforced with up to 20 % nylon/polyamide, making them stronger and longer wearing.)

Contrast color: approx 2-3 g of the recommended yarn or at least 8-10 m of other Light Fingering or Fingering weight sock yarn.
If you leave out the stripes you don’t need this yarn.

TECHNIQUES:
The socks are knitted from cuff to toe using the Magic Loop technique. At the cuff edge either Long Tail Cast On or Italian Tubular Cast On techniques can be used, and the sock’s surface pattern design can be chosen from either stockinette stitch or seeded rib stitch, both with or without stripes. The sock has a reinforced Dutch heel and a wedge shaped toe. The toe is finished with Kitchener stitch.
The pattern is video supported.

The Mini Socks sukkien ohje on monipuolinen ja klassinen, erityisesti pienille ihmisille suunniteltu malli. Yläreuna luodaan joko Long Tail- tai Italian Tubular Cast On tekniikalla ja sukan pintakuvioksi voi valita sileää oikeaa neulosta tai rikottua joustinta, raidoilla tai ilman. Sukkaan tehdään hollantilainen vahvistettu kantapää ja kärkeen leveä nauhakavennus. Kärki päätellään silmukoiden.
