The Ocean is an elongated triangular shawl knit from the top down with a slip stitch patterning of stripes starting with a dark color gradiating to lighter color. This is to mimic the depths of the ocean as it gets shallower. The scalloped edge mimics the waves at the shoreline.

The sample used Neighborhood Fiber Co. Studio Sock:
C1: Roland Park (approx. 540 yds,/503 m 2 skeins needed)
C2: Rock Creek Park (approx. 55 yds,/55 m 1 skein needed)
C3: Canton (approx. 120 yds,/110 m 1 skein needed)
C4: Swoon (approx. 160 yds,/147 m 1 skein needed)

Finished blocked size is a 72” wingspan x 24” depth.

A gradient yarn could be used in place of the 3 colors contrasting colors (C2, C3, C4). Just make sure you have enough yardage. My testers all used just under 100g total for the contrasting colors. Good suggestions for a gradient would be Apple Tree Knits Plush Fingering, Fiber Optic Yarns Footnotes Paintbox Gradient, Leading Men Fiber Arts Show Stopper Gradients, or any other gradient with appropriate yardage.
