This is a pattern for a dog snood. Snoods look similar to human cowls, but function closer to a human snood. Use them for warmth, keeping ears out of food/water, staying clean during play, and show coat maintenance.

This snood is made from a DK weight merino wool. It is medium-heavy weight because of the cables. I’ve included written instructions for the i-cord drawstring. The hardware (pictured) is totally optional.

This pattern is written with the assumption that you understand how to cast on, bind off, work in the round, and work cables. I explain how to increase and decrease, as well as write out the cable instructions. This is a written pattern.

Materials needed:
2 size 5 DPNs or circular needles
Size 6 16” circular needles
Size 7 DPN (optional for stretchier bind off)
Cable needle
Yarn needle
2 aglets (optional)
1 drawstring stop (optional)
2 skeins of HHF merino DK (you wont use all of it, but you’ll use more than one)
