“And as he drove on, the rainclouds dragged down the sky after him, for, though he did not know it, he was a Rain God. All he knew was that his working days were miserable and he had a succession of lousy holidays. All the clouds knew was that they loved him and wanted to be near him, to cherish him, and to water him.”

~ Douglas Adams

The Rain Outside is the sister shawl to Waiting for Rain. It uses the same technique, which I’ve named Softsweater’s Charted Lace Short Row Technique! Little lace rips, or lace windows within the garter makes these projects highly unique!

The shawl fits elegantly over shoulders, but it’s perfectly happy to be wrapped up tight around your neck for warmth too. It’s worked top down with big lace-y increases.

Lace and garter always are in such lovely contrast with one another.

This project was knit with very special yarn. Two skeins of Sweet Fiber Merino Twist DK in Charcoal and one skein in Smoke. Sweet Fiber has won my heart! I hope you’ll consider knitting this and any of my project in her yarns, if you pop over to her online shop she’s got kits available for this shawl!

I hope you enjoy!

I’d love to have you join my mailing list or visit me over on instagram. I’m @softsweater on there.
