Play It Again 2024 is an opportunity for knitters to knit my patterns together in Knitting in the Loft starting March 1st. This pattern, along with my others, is being offered at 20% off until March 15, 2024, no coupon code needed. Come join us in the Loft!

The Spring Lune was born out of appreciation of fun and fresh Spring flowers, and words. During a serious, and I mean serious, game of Scrabble in the Spring of the year, my daughter found an Old English word “lune”. It just happens to mean “crescent”. Thus the name. This pattern is dedicated to all of the word loving, Scrabble playing members of my family (and friends)…and there are a LOT of them!

Three Irish Girls, are the dyers of the yarns I used, Larkspur, Hydrangea, and Winter Birch. It was wonderful to work with. (Thank you, Kelly and Erin!) If you are interested in purchasing any of their yarns, here is the link to their website: http://threeirishgirls.com/

This crescent shaped shawl is knitted from the bottom up using an Estonian Lace stitch, an original Pansy pattern, a unique Tuck or optional garter stitch, and an eyelet pattern in the short rows at the top. It is fun and a little challenging, but not too much.

Finished Size (from tip to tip): 46 inches by 15 inches or 56 inches by 15 inches.

Many thanks to my test knitters, Linda09 , rimala , Yarnwench1 , and Gerlwyn , and mentor, dogyarns . This pattern wouldn’t exist without you all. Thank you!

Please Note:

The thirteen pattern repeat version has been updated in the crescent shaping part of the pattern, both written and charted.

Row 27. There is not an extra stitch for a W&T. I did not want a hole in that spot, so I “borrowed” a stitch from the edge. You are welcome to do what works best for you.

The fifteen pattern repeat version has been updated in the crescent shaping part of the pattern, both written and charted.

Charted: Left-Center, Row 15 Remove the last K2tog-YO at the end of the row. These are knit stitches.

Written: Stitch counts have been edited. It is not necessary to reprint the pattern, if you wish.
