Ever want to knit something but don’t know what? Pick up a cute skein of yarn and you’re certain it’ll be good for something someday? Well, here’s The Thing.

I bought a skein of Amalgam 4 (Jill Draper Makes Stuff) at Fibre Space in Alexandria while visiting home, and knew I wanted it to be a constant accessory. I have always found bandana scarves to be either too wide or too short- this solves that problem. Long ends make this the perfect piece to tie over a sweater or under a jacket.

Initially this wasn’t a pattern I was going to write up, but I made it once…twice…three times, then my mum made one, and honestly it’s just kind of really fun to knit and wear so The Thing is now released into the world. Please enjoy. The curl of the stockinette edge makes it really easy to tie and style in front and wear under a bulky coat or over a sweatshirt.
