The Timbre Beanie is a beautiful cabled crochet pattern meant to imitate the look of cable knits. This pattern is crocheted in the round with a short and simple repeat.

Skill Level - Intermediate

This pattern is designed to look more intricate than it actually is; if you can crochet a post stitch, you can make this pattern! I’ve labeled it as intermediate crochet more for the time and patience needed to grasp the row repeats than the actual skills involved. Included in the pattern are stitch definitions and step-by-step written instructions. An updated version of these written instructions with color photos is coming soon.

SC - Single Crochet

HDC - Half Double Crochet

Depending on the weight of your worsted yarn, use either the 4.5 mm or the 5 mm hook for the brim. The yarn I am using for this pattern is a lighter worsted weight yarn, so I find that the 4.5 mm hook makes a much nicer brim. Any worsted weight yarn will work for this project; most happen to be closer to an aran weight, in which case I would use the 5 mm hook. If you aren’t sure, test it out and see which one works better for your gauge and yarn.

In order for the beanie to grade down to a nice finished top, you will need to use all three different hook sizes listed: either 4.5 mm, 5 mm, and 5.5 mm, or 5 mm, 5.5 mm, and 6 mm.

Materials:

150g Worsted Weight Yarn - Malabrigo Rios was the original yarn base I used for this pattern, although the sample shown is made from a worsted yarn base from a local shop that was hand-dyed.
