The Tortoise and the Sheep
The pattern is knitted in the round across 3 double pointed needles (if you use magic loop then feel free, I don’t like it!). I’m not actually sure where I got this from in the first place, I assume it was probably off Ravelry or a blog and I wrote the details down in my notebook. I’ve seen similar patterns on ravelry so I certainly don’t take the credit for inventing this!
I’ve written the pattern up and I’ll give instructions on the i-cord edging when I’ve finished (probably in about 5 years time!!). I’ve also included a plan for you to use, some photos of my current progress and the colours I’m using.
I started my ‘Tortoise and the Sheep’ blanket to use up a few balls of Drops Nepal I had in my basket, its name a nod to my actual tortoise (who’s called George!) and the naturalistic shades I’d ended up with, reminiscent of his shell. My main issue with patchwork style blankets is the seaming and my distinct inability to use a needle and thread. This pattern is great as it eliminates this entirely and you have the benefit of seeing the blanket grow. As you can see, this is very much a work in progress and when it’s finished I’ll be edging the whole thing with a neat i-cord applied border.
