The Tudor Tank

The Tudor tank is inspired by my love for the history of Henry Viii and his 6 wives and the beautiful Tudor neckline of the dresses. It is a simple and elegant tank that offers an elegance and femininity to a shirt or blouse. Or you can wear it on it’s own. You can knit a cropped version or a longer version with a slightly lower bust line.

Sizing
XS/S/M/L/XL
Measurements :
Waist 80/85/90/95/100cm (the ribbed section is measured at its stretched state)
Bust 88/93/98/102/107cm (the bust section is measured before it is stretched so when picking your size take into consideration that there will be around a 5cm stretch within each size)

What you need:

Needles:
5mm circular needles 80cm for body
4mm circular needles 80cm for neckline and 40cm for armholes
Yarn:
I used sirdar No1 DK. Which is a soft acrylic/nylon blend, light and airy for spring time. You can choose any dk wool as long as it fits into the stated gauge. You will need around 150/150/200/200/250grams – depending on how long you knit the Tank. .

Stitch markers
Tapestry needle
Optional pins or brooches for decoration of the corners of the neckline
Scrap yarn

Gauge:
16 stitches = 10 cm.

About the pattern:
The tank is knitted bottom up in the round and then the front and back are separated and worked flat. The front and back straps are divided and binded together at the end. The armholes and neckline are picked up and a mitered decrease is used for the neckline. This is a relatively quick knit with a skill level of advanced beginner – each section is detailed to help if you haven’t used any of the techniques used in the pattern.
