The Typewriter Shawl is worked flat, beginning with just two stitches and
increasing gradually to form an asymmetrical triangular shape.
The shawl is knitted using three colours. Each colour is worked in turn by sliding the stitches
back to the beginning of the needle rather than turning the work. An increase is worked at the
beginning of each single-strand row. Once all three colours have been worked individually, the
stitches are knitted once with all three strands held together, with no increase, before the
sequence repeats.
This method creates a rhythmic, layered texture with visible depth of colour, while keeping the
stitch pattern itself simple. The shawl grows organically and can be made larger or smaller by
continuing the repeat until the first colour is nearly used up.
The final section is worked in garter stitch with all three colours held together, followed by a
loose bind-off and wet blocking to open the fabric and define the shape.

The Typewriter Shawl is designed to be highly adaptable. Size can be easily adjusted by working
the pattern repeat until the main colour is nearly used, making it suitable for a wide range of
body types and styling preferences.
