The Vinterland is a baby / toddler / young child’s cardigan that’s knitted top down. At the underarms stitches are placed on holders for the sleeves, then the body is continued in one piece. The sleeves are then worked top down too and are seamless.

Sibling to the pullover version it also combines a fluffy mohair and a light weight yarn to create a delicate soft cardigan. The textured pattern is simply a combination of knit and purl stitches which line up with the ribbing and button bands, a simple but attractive look that makes the cardigan that little bit special.

The two yarns are held together for this pattern. Mohair can vary a lot between brands. Pairing with either Fingering or Sport (UK 4 / 5 ply) weight is possible. You can also substitute using two yarns with a single DK yarn but keep a note of the gauge. The following yardage is for guidance.

yarn 1: Fingering or Sport weight (UK 4 / 5 ply)
● 315 – 325 - 370 – 410 - 470 (550 – 650 - 750)m /
345 – 356 - 405 - 449 - 514 (602 - 711 - 820)yds

yarn 2: Lace (UK 2 ply) weight
● 315 - 340 - 390 – 430 - 480 (570 - 670 - 770)m
345 - 372 - 427 - 471 - 525 (624 - 733 - 842)yds
