Sheep Chic …

A charming colourwork beanie that’s as cosy as it is full of character.

This design is a playful hat tip (literally!) to my floating venture — the Three Sheep Cheese Boat — and features a trio of woolly sheep standing proudly at centre stage. Whether you’re a sheep fan, fibre lover, cheese enthusiast, or all three, this beanie brings together warmth, whimsy, and a touch of canal-side charm.

It’s perfect for adventurous beginners or seasoned colourwork fans. Choose two contrasting DK yarns and let your sheep shine!

Worked in the round with a combination of charted and written instructions with handy progress boxes, so you can keep a visual track of where you are.

You might feel like you’re playing bingo.

I have formatted this pattern in such a way that you should only need to print pages 3 & 4 double sided (if you prefer to use a hard copy when knitting).

Saving the planet one unprinted page at a time.

Skills Used …

  • Loose, long tail cast on.
  • Knit and purl stitches.
  • Decreasing (K2TOG).

You will need the following …

  • DK : 50g x 2 (highly contrasting colours)
  • 4mm* circulars
  • 4mm dpns for working the crown
  • 5 stitch markers
  • 1 BOR marker
  • Tapestry needle (the sewing those dreaded ends in).

(Or size required to obtain gauge)

Gauge and Size …

I can’t wait to see your Three Sheep Beanie so please do be sure to start a project page or tag me on Instagram and Facebook (#threesheepbeanie @beanieboatdesigns).

Follow me (@beanieboatdesigns) on Instagram and Facebook for updates on future patterns, test-knits and giveaways from the boat. Yes, I said boat … it’s on a narrowboat, where I live and work.

If you like the look of this pattern it would be a huge help to me if you would give it a like as I have an overflowing notebook of ideas and this helps me understand what to work on next. Your support of my little dream is so appreciated. Every ‘like’ helps and it’s a known fact I do a tiny happy dance each time I get a notification. I am a terrible dancer!
