This sparkly hat is knit in the round from the bottom-up, and worked in a colorwork chart after ribbing.

This festive, lightweight, and slouchy winter hat is knit with stellina-infused fingering weight yarn. The extra space at the top of the hat allows for the pom to drape, like a Santa hat! The motif was inspired by antique, frosty glass ornaments that decorate trees over the holidays.

Find this yarn in “The Jewelry Box” yarn line of Meeker Street Yarns, hand-dyed by Benjamin Bentler of The Nifty Knitter Yarn Shop in Issaquah, Washington. Stellina yarn is extremely hard to photograph, so if you can’t find this yarn on Meeker Street’s website, call the Nifty Knitter yarn shop to see if it is in stock.

Difficulty Rating: “early intermediate” --prior experience with stranded colorwork is suggested

MC: Approx 150 yds/37 grams
CC: Approx 80 yds/ 20 grams

Although the hat is published in one size and fits most, the chart pattern is easily modified to other sizes by either adding or subtracting one repeat of the chart each round. If you want to add mohair or Suri Alpaca to this hat for extra fuzz and warmth, be sure to swatch and adjust the pattern repeats to maintain ideal circumference/fit.

Choose two skeins of yarn with stellina (a delicate tinsel) spun into it. Be sure to select colors that will show great contrast, or tonal difference.
