When the first few flakes begin to fall each winter, with them come out our favorite winter stories! One such story is The Tomten By Astrid Lindgren.
It tells a tale of a gentle creature, older than we can know, that pads silently on it’s little feet all about a sleeping farmstead, seeing to the animals and the sleeping family. Offering milk to the farm cats, and sweet dreams to the cows and sheep in it’s own special language.

The Tomten Socks pattern was inspired by this sweet little story, and the colors and feeling of the beautiful illustrations and words therein. Too sweet to pass up in a smaller size I dreamed up the Tiny Tomten Socks for the littlest feet in my home.

The socks are worked top down, beginning with a twisted rib cuff. Then a band of simple colorwork framed by two Latvian braids. The heel is worked in the German short row method, and the foot finished in stockinette.

The pattern includes links to video tutorials for all techniques it features.
