This pattern was designed for Sock Madness 9 and was considered challenging enough to represent Round 6.

Tradescantia zebrina is an ampelous plant with characteristic leaves.

Techniques used:

Gauge:
Stranded leaves (Cuff&Leg chart): 18 sts x 14 rows = 2⅛ x 1⅝ in. (5.5 x 4 cm).
Pinstripes: 19 sts x 13 rows = 2 x 1⅜ in. (5 x 3.5 cm).

Yarn usage:

  • for both socks in the same color scheme: 1 skein MC (for leaf contours) and 2 skeins CC (for leaves and background);
  • for socks in opposing color schemes: 2 skeins MC and 2 skeins CC.

Only a small amount of the second skein(s) will be used.
For the sample sock (completed one), 23 g (103 yd. (94 m)) of #17 (green) was used as MC, and 26 g (120 yd. (110 m)) of #26 (apple) were used as CC.
(For incompleted sock, all the remained #26 (apple) yarn was used.)
Please note, the recommended yarn tends to weigh slightly less than specified on the yarn label.

The pattern is 19 pages: 4 for introductory, 7 for directions, 4+4 for two sets of charts, one for each color scheme. Most likely you’ll need only one set of charts (and zero introductory).
