Named for the rural magazine Trail Blaz-Her—who featured this pattern in their Fall 2024 print issue. Trailblazher is a Canadian, female-founded magazine sharing the stories of rural women, inspiring and empowering them to live with grit and passion. I was honoured.

Construction & Techniques

• Worked in the round from the brim up
• Long-tail cast-on
• Twisted rib (k1tbl, p1), then knit every round for stockinette
• Crown decreases with k2tog across 7 marked sections
• Drawstring close and wet or steam block to finish

• Yarn weight: Worsted / Medium #4
• Yardage: 1 × 85 g skein
• Suggested yarn: Lion Brand Wool-Ease Worsted or similar wool blend

Needles:

• Ribbing: 4 mm (US 6) 16” / 40 cm circular
• Main: 5 mm (US 8) 16” / 40 cm circular (or size to obtain gauge)
• Crown: 5 mm (US 8) DPNs or 9” short circular (2” tips + ~5” cable) or long circular for magic loop
• Notions: stitch markers (1 BOR + 6 section markers), tapestry needle, scissors

Gauge
- 18 sts × 24 rnds = 4” × 4” (10 × 10 cm) in stockinette, blocked, on 5 mm (US 8)

Finished Size

• Circumference: 18.5” (47 cm) unstretched
• Length: 10.75” (27.25 cm) from cast-on edge to crown
