Trefoil Scarf
by Nancy Hand
This floral design is something I found while looking through one of my old sketchbooks. There are a fair number of “blank”, patternless, rows perfect for adding or subtracting length.
The pattern is primarily charts. The design uses 5 stranded-style charts.
The scarf uses about 700 yds (640m) of each of two colors. The sample used 2 lace-weight yarns on a US 3 (3.25mm) needle resulting in a fairly wide scarf. Gauge is not important as long as you like the fabric you’re getting. A larger needle, or thicker yarn, will result in a wider scarf while a smaller needle will produce a narrower scarf.
