The design on these ankle socks (they can also be made longer) is inspired by the venomous plant creatures from John Wyndham’s The Day of the Triffids and its various film and TV adaptations. The sock is designed to showcase a mini-skein ‘fade’ set (you can make up your own from mini-skeins or leftover yarn), but a single colour would work too. The top and front of the socks features a lacey vine design with grasping plant ‘mouths’. The heel flap is topped by a row of triffid cable motifs and the ribbed cuff is edged with a lace stinger edging. The edging is designed to peek over the top of the walking boots (to act like a boot topper) that you might need to wear when trying to escape from the triffids!
