Gauge doesn’t matter for these patterns since you’ll be using 3 strands as one. The hat size and the scarf fits a toddler, and adult (S, L). Toddler size shown in photos.

The yarn weight is listed as bulky based on the weight that all three strands create when used together (aka: marling). Otherwise, the actual weight of the yarn for each strand is medium (Aran/Worsted - if you’re using the recommended yarn).

The keyhole scarf is intended to be an easier and slightly safer scarf for toddlers in the winter as opposed to dangerous knots around their neck using a traditional scarf.

These are GREAT stash busters since they don’t necessarily need the same exact weight yarn, and pom pom’s use up a ton of yarn. You can easily use different weight yarn, or more than three strands, but that will change the overall gauge and measurements, but feel free to experiment and have fun!
