About This Design
When I first published my Triumph Toddler Socks, way back in 2015, I was so happy that I had finally cracked the code for designing a sock from scratch. I started with a gauge swatch, used standard size measurements, applied some sensible maths and then did a test knit … which worked! Unfortunately, my brain power conked out after making the pattern for a single size only. This pattern has been downloaded for free over 1000 times and many gorgeous projects have been completed for deserving little feet.

Eleven years on, I have published 18 adult sock patterns, all toe-up construction with a gusset and flap heel treatment, including several Fleegle Heel designs. This year, I returned to my Triumph Toddler Socks and decided to update the pattern, grade it to multiple sizes and to improve the short-row instructions for the heel turn.

The result is a new pattern called Puddle Jumper Socks, with five sizes to fit 3- to 24-month-old little ones. I’ve also included a bonus supplement in the new pattern on how to modify the pattern to make footsies – little ankle-length slippers, bed socks or house socks – plus curating a heap of handy resources for working different types of jogless stripes. The end result is a pattern with lots of cute options and ideas for using up double-knit/8-ply yarn stash and leftovers.

The updated Triumph Toddler Socks pattern includes the same improvements as the Puddle Jumper Socks. It is still sized for 12–month-old little ones. This new, updated version will still be available for free, but I hope that you will use the link in the Ravelry listing to also check out the multi-sized Puddle Jumper Socks as well.
