Tuxedo Sam
Crochet your own little Tuxedo Sam, dressed in his sailor hat and pink bow tie! His rounded body, tiny flippers, and webbed feet give him plenty of personality.
This listing is for a PDF crochet pattern containing instructions to make Tuxedo Sam. It is not a finished physical item or a kit. No materials are included.
The body and head are crocheted as one piece, starting by joining two small nubs at the base. The white belly, flippers, feet, beak, bow tie, and sailor hat are made separately and attached.
✨ What’s included
- Detailed written instructions with step-by-step photos
- A sailor hat with a contrasting brim and little ribbon
- Guidance for positioning and attaching the separate pieces
- An illustrated techniques appendix
Skill level and techniques
Suitable for experienced beginners. The pattern combines continuous rounds, joined rounds, and rows, with increases, decreases, and sewing. Some small details may take beginners a little extra patience; photos and explanations are included throughout.
Finished size
Approximately 10 cm tall and 8 cm wide when made with sport-weight yarn and a 2.0 mm hook. Size will vary depending on the yarn and hook selected.
Materials
- Sport-weight yarn in blue, white, yellow, and pink. I used YarnArt Jeans.
- 2.0 mm crochet hook.
- Alternatively, use your favourite yarn in the colours above and a hook approximately 1 mm smaller than the size recommended on the yarn label. Aim for firm, even stitches that hold their shape and keep the stuffing from showing.
- Stuffing.
- Oval black safety eyes, approximately 2 stitches wide—I used 6 × 5 mm eyes.
- Stitch markers, sewing pins, and a tapestry needle.
- Optional fabric glue.
Language and terminology
English, using US crochet terminology.
