This pattern was original published as part of the 6 Muffatee Mystery Knit Along.

Historically, column and twisted column patterns show up in many of the early needlework publications (1838 on). Today we use the term cables. The stitch count of the columns varied from 4 (2 crossed over 2), 6 (3 over 3) and 8 (4 over 4) stitches. There are also patterns that referred to braiding or plaited which incorporated multiple crossings of columns.
