Týra
Týra is a warm Icelandic-style yoke sweater for children, inspired by the colours and distinctive coat markings of the Icelandic Sheepdog.
Worked seamlessly in the round from the bottom up, the sweater features a softly geometric stranded-colourwork yoke. An optional decorative border can be worked above the hem and cuffs—or omitted for a simpler version.
Choose between a classic crew neck and the original cosy high neck. With six sizes covering ages 4–14 years and approximately 8–11 cm of positive ease, Týra has a comfortable fit with room for growing and layering.
Sizes: 4 (6, 8, 10, 12, 14) years
To fit chest: 58 (62, 66, 70, 74, 78) cm
Finished chest: 66.5 (71, 75.5, 80, 84.5, 89) cm
Gauge: 18 stitches and approximately 24 rounds = 10 cm
Construction: Seamless, bottom-up and worked in the round
Skills: Stranded colourwork, increases, decreases and grafting
The pattern is written for Léttlopi but may be worked in another aran-weight yarn that gives the correct gauge.
Updated edition: The pattern has been fully revised, clarified and expanded from three sizes to six.
Available in English, Icelandic, German and Norwegian.
