About this pattern:
Thank you for your interest in the Umbrella Sky Wrap pattern!

This pattern was inspired by the Umbrella Sky Project art installation in Águeda, Portugal. Hundreds of colorful umbrellas, suspended above narrow city streets, were used to give respite from the sun and create a playful atmosphere.

This project benefits from the use of hand dyed tonal and speckled yarns but would also be beautiful if done entirely in tonals.

There are so many ways for you to make this pattern your own! Share your photos on Ravelry, email them to us at info@cheerstoewe.com, or share them on Facebook and Instagram with #cheerstoewe. I can’t wait to see what you make!

Here are the details for this pattern:

Materials and Equipment:
Yarn: Twisted Owl Yarns 2-PLY SOCK (100 grams, 400 yards, 80% Superwash Merino, 20% Nylon): 1 skein each: Azure (MC); Red (CC1), Agueda (CC2), Purple Rain (CC3)
MadTosh TWIST LIGHT (100 grams, 420 yards, 75% Merino Wool, 25% Nylon): 1 skein each: Candlewick (CC4); Barbara Deserved Better (CC5)
Needles: Size US 5 (3.75 mm) and US 6 (3.5 mm) circular needles 32” long
Finishing: Tapestry Needle

Gauge: 22 sts and 12 rows = 4”/10cm in Stockinette Stitch.
To save time, take time to check gauge.

Size: One size

Finished Measurements: 75”x17”

Designer Notes: Stitches are added at the beginning of each star stitch section and removed at the end of each star stitch section to compensate for a gauge difference. The use of a larger needle size also helps mitigate this difference. There is a set of instructions included in the pattern for the star stitch technique used in this piece.

Techniques:
CC – Contrast Color
K – Knit
Kfb – Knit into the front and the back of the st
K2tog – Knit 2 sts together
MC – Main Color
MSS – Make Star Stitch (see below)
P – Purl
Rep – Repeat
RLI – Right lifted increase
Sl1wyib – Slip one st with yarn in back of work
Sl1wyif – Slip one st with yarn in front of work
St(s) – Stitch(es)
Yo – Yarn over
