Under Mauao is a tied headband made with a light dk / 8ply or sport yarn.
It includes simple diagonal lines of lacework and a double selvedge “i-cord” edge; and is a quick, fun way to try-out these techniques if they are new to you.
The pattern requires only a small amount of yarn and, with just twenty stiches through the main part of the band, is a quick knit.
It is provided in one size to fit an average adult head, but simple instructions are provided to customise the length, for example, for children.
Under Mauao is named after the time spent experimenting with this pattern while watching my kids play on the beach near the lava dome, Mauao.
