Understory is a gently textured, worsted weight hat patterned with vertical “stripes” of differing lengths. The classic design is both elegant and understated, resulting in an easy-to-wear piece suitable for everyone.

The hat is worked with a provisional cast on, allowing for a doubly-thick and very warm folded brim.

Understory is an excellent introduction to charted knitting for newcomers, and it makes a quick gift sure to be well-worn and well-loved.

This pattern includes both a chart and written instructions.

The Understory Hat is a companion piece to the Undergrowth Scarf.
