☀️ Feed the hungry unicorn, over the rainbow

This is a fun DIY knit game for little ones! Go over the rainbow, where a hungry unicorn is waiting to eat treats. When playtime is over, the game mat becomes a bag for easy storage.

The Unicorn Treat Game helps toddlers and preschoolers with color recognition, fine motor skills, taking turns and strategic thinking. For older kids, make it trickier: the winner must collect one pompom of each color.

✨ What makes it work

✂️ What you’ll need

• Yarn: Super Saver, Red Heart (aran), about 320 yds. Colors shown: White (A), Baby Pink (B), Pale Plum (C, purple), Light Blue (D), Tea Leaf (E, green), Lemon (F, yellow), plus a small amount of black (G) for stitching
• Love a swap? Always check gauge: Super Soft, Red Heart · Satin, Bernat · I Love This Yarn, Hobby Lobby · Best Value, Mary Maxim · Anthem, Cascade Yarns
• Needles: US 7 (4.5mm) circular or DPNs, plus a crochet hook (optional)
• Tools: Yarn Needle · Stitch Markers · Scissors · A small amount of fiberfill
• For the game: 20 colorful pompoms, 4 of each color (found at most craft stores). These are the “pompom treats.”
