> Uszka Lamb

Uszka Lamb
Peaking between spring grasses is an itty bitty lamb. But not a regular lamb, a knit one! This uszka lamb is knit with fingering weight yarn, and is named for Polish “uszki” or little dumplings. They wear a tiny sweater and pants, made from wool of course, and hurry away along wildflower dotted paths to their cottage, looking forward to an afternoon with tea and their latest fibre project.
Size
The finished lamb is 22cm / 8.75” tall, and 20cm / 8” around at the widest point on the body (not including the arms). See the schematic in the images for all the measurements.
Yarn and Yardage
The lamb uses fingering weight cotton yarn, and needs ~70 yards. I’ve used Scheepjes Catona in colours like Bridal White, Jet Black, Light Silver, and Anthracite. The sweater and pants each take 50 yards of fingering weight wool yarn. Any colours you wish will work for these, and it’s a great way to use up leftovers from other projects. I’ve used Alley Cat Yarns Smooth Sock, Sunday Fibre Co. Barefoot Sock, and Sandnes Garn Sisu.
Notions
Knitting needles (DPNs or circulars for magic loop), darning needle, two pieces of scrap black DK weight yarn for eyes, scrap brown fingering weight yarn for mouth, polyfill for stuffing.
Techniques
This pattern does have lots of fiddly bits, including working small circumferences in the round, picking up stitches, and attaching limbs. That said, with a little bit of focus, an intermediate knitter will have no problem putting together this plushie!
