Vaahtis
Vaahtis (Marshmallow in Finnish) are sweet as candy pair of socks that introduces french heel and special texture, that is more simpler than it looks.
The socks are worked from cuff down. The cuff has two options for the edging; either cute picot or simpler straight but folded edging.
The pattern has been written for use of DPNs, but you can also knit these with magic loop.
Pattern includes written instructions, charts and helper images.
Sizes:
S-M (M-L) / 37-40 (41-42) EUR
48 (52) sts
Yarn:
Filcolana Arwetta, 210 m / 50 g) or other fingering weight yarn.
2 (3) skeins.
You can knit socks using one color, or if you want small twist with coloring, choose two different tones of the same color. Solid colors are recommended.
Yardage:
460 (600) yds / 420 (550) m, if knitted with one color.
230 (300) yds / 210 (275) m per color, if knitting with two colors
Needles:
US 4 (3,5 mm) DPNS.
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the right gauge.
Gauge:
22 sts x 36 rows = 4 X 4’’ / 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch, with double yarns (after blocking).
Other:
Tapestry needle.
Stitch markers if you want use them as tracking progress.
Finished measurements:
Foot circumference: 8,3 (8,7)’’ / 21 (22) cm
Length from cuff to heel flap: 4’’ / 10 cm
Required Skills:
Cast on, purls and knits, decreases as skp and 2tog, bind off.
