This is a pattern meant specifically for Valentine’s Day and thereabouts. It is a simple beanie pattern with the caveat that the stranded work requires the fabric to be larger as it is less stretchy, ergo, there are 78 stitches in the body of this object. The Plymouth Encore Worsted Starz yarn is said to be washable and it is implied that the colors do not run.

The pompom is not sewn in. I make pompoms with two, therefore 4 strands of yarn. These are put in at the top about 1/2 inch to either side in a cruciform shape. The pairs of strands then are securely tied into two bows and not knots. This allows for the removal of the pom-pom for washing and its easy replacement.

Have fun!
