VAPPU SOCKS

Vappu is celebrated on the first of May, also known as Saint Walpurgis Night. It is a day filled with home-made sima (mead), doughnuts, funnel cakes and colourful balloons.
The socks are knitted cuff down. The cuff is folded down. There are four ruffle rows, resembling balloons, decorating the leg.

Sizes: There are four sizes for the width in this pattern, 60 (64) 68 (72) sts. The length can easily be adjusted. If there is only one number of stitches, it applies to all sizes.
Yarn: Fingering-weight sock yarn, 400 m / 100 g. The yarn used for the sample are 20 g minis from the Christmas Calendar 2023 from Lankafarmi. You can knit each colour stripe with a different colour, or you can repeat colours. There is information about yarn usage for each stripe in the pattern.
Yardage: about 100 (110) 120 (130) g. If you want a higher leg, you need more yarn. If you don’t get gauge, the yardage will differ from the given yardagen.
Gauge: 30 sts x 42 rows = 10 cm in stockinette stitch
Needles: 2,0 and 2,5 mm circular needle, preferably 80 – 100 cm long for magic looping. Or another sized needle to get the right gauge.
Knitting style: This pattern is written for using magic loop. If you want to knit with double pointed needles, remember that needle 1 means double pointed needles 1 and 2, and needle 2 means double pointed needles 3 and 4.

VAPPUSUKAT
Sukat neulotaan varresta varpaisiin. Vartta koristaa hauskat ilmapalloraidat. Sukkien varret voi rutata nilkkoihin, jolloin ilmapallot menevät makkaroille, tai vetää suoraksi, jolloin ilmapalloraidat näkyvät paremmin.

Koot: Ohjeessa on neljä kokoa leveyssuunnassa, 60 (64) 68 ja (72) silmukkaa. Jalkaterän pituutta on helppo säädellä.
Lanka: Fingering-vahvuista sukkalankaa 400 m / 100 g. Ohjeessa on käytetty Lankafarmin joulukalenterin 2023 minejä (20 g minejä). Voit neuloa jokaisen väriraidan eri värillä, tai kierrättää muutamaa väriä. Tarkista kuitenkin langanmenekki.
Langan menekki: noin 100 (110) 120 (130) g. Mikäli haluat korkeamman varren, tarvitset enemmän lankaa. Mikäli neuletiheys ei täsmää, sukkiin kuluu eri määrä lankaa!
Neuletiheys: 30 s ja 42 krs = 10 cm sileää neuletta
Puikot: 2,0 ja 2,5 mm 80 – 100 cm pitkät pyöröpuikot mikäli käytät magic loop menetelmää, tai muu puikkokoko, jolla saat oikean neuletiheyden
Neuletyyli: Ohje on kirjoitettu magic loop menetelmälle. Mikäli haluat neuloa sukkapuikoilla, 1. puikko tarkoittaa puikkoja 1 ja 2, ja 2. puikko tarkoittaa puikkoja 3 ja 4.
