Veiled Escoffion Headpiece
This is a crochet pattern for a late-medieval veiled escoffion princess hat. If you’re looking for a whimsical and delicate accessory to add to your historical period costume collection, ren faire wardrobe, or to wear for your next LARP event, this pattern is for you!
This pattern is made to measure and includes detailed instructions with pictures (and links to YouTube tutorials for certain techniques). There are several trim options, as well as two different veil options: a rectangular one that drapes over the front (made with mohair) and one with one triangle on the front and two triangles on the back, which is made with Silly Socks size 1 yarn from Hobbii. Both veil options are made to measure, so you can use any yarn you have on hand!
This pattern was tested by 12 people with x-small to x-large heads, their Instagrams are listed in the testers appreciation section!
Difficulty: 4.5/10 (intermediate)
You must know how to do single crochets, half double crochets, double crochets, treble crochets and decreases in all these stitches (treble decreases are shown in the pattern though). If you’ve never made a hat before, this pattern may be too difficult for you.
