Vela Pure Sweater
About
“Vela” derives from Latin, meaning sails—a quiet nod to movement, lightness, and the graceful way knitted fabric flows with the body. In the Vela Pure Sweater, this idea is expressed through a clean, understated design that places the focus on silhouette, proportion, and construction.
The signature wide trumpet sleeves remain the defining feature of the design, creating an elegant sense of movement with every gesture. Paired with a clean boat neck, a softly relaxed fit, and smooth stockinette throughout, they give the sweater a timeless, effortless character that feels equally at home dressed up or down.
Construction begins with the upper back worked flat. Stitches are then picked up along the shoulders, with additional stitches cast on for the neckline. Short rows shape the neck before the upper front is worked flat as well. The body is then joined in the round. Sleeves are picked up around the armholes and shaped with increases to create the characteristic trumpet silhouette. Finally, stitches are picked up along the neckline to finish it with a simple stockinette edge.
