Vendavel is available through CustomFit, which means that each Vendavel pattern is created specifically to your choice of measurements and gauge.

Looking for a stylish update to a classic crew-neck cardigan? Try this version, with garter stitch trims. Vendavel is one of the initial designs in CustomFit’s “straight sweaters” release, and works well for both kids and grown-ups, in any gauge you like.

Vendavel is an average-length, long-sleeve cardigan with crew neck shaping and slim Garter stitch trims everywhere: The hem has 1.5’’ (4 cm) of Garter, the sleeves 2.5’’ (6.5 cm), and the button band is just 1.25’’ (3 cm). Brenna is wearing this cardigan with a child’s close fit.

Since Vendavel has no waist shaping, it also makes the perfect blank slate onto which you can put any stitch pattern you like. (Just be sure to enter your gauge in the pattern stitch you’ve chosen!)

I used Berroco Vintage for this sample, in the color “Cracked Pepper”, at a gauge of 20 sts and 28 rows to 4’’ (10 cm). But CustomFit will create your pattern to the gauge you specify - and for that reason, it’s difficult to give any kind of yardage advice! To estimate how much yarn you’ll need, I strongly recommend the “Stashbot” app or pamphlet by Hannah Fettig.
