Why not top-down AND reversible?

Knit from top-down and wearable from both sides…. Good idea.

To make this possible I created a new way to cast-on/pick-up stitches. I have never seen this technique used anywhere else before, therefor I claim this to be called “Silke Ufers Signature Cast-on”. In the future I will bring out more patterns that will use my signature cast-on. Stay tuned for spring/summer 2026.

This casual T-Shirt with a V-neck is constructed to be worked in rows first, and then joined to work in rounds once you reached the underarm length.

Both sides do not have any seams, cast-on selvedges or any other interrupting elements. To achieve this, I went for a slip stitch band as the base for back and front stitches.

At the same time all open edges have a clean finish by working slip stitches.

The all-over textured pattern is very pretty from both sides. As this shirt starts with short rows while at the same time setting up the all-over pattern, it needs your full concentration at the begin.

If you find this too complicated or intimidating, you can for sure work this shirt i.e. in plain stockinette stitch and even then, have the choice which side to wear as your “right” side.

Sizes: 1, 2 (3, 4, 5) 6, 7, 8. Circumference finished garment: 96, 104 (112, 120, 128) 136, 144, 152 cm 37 ¾“, 41“ (44“, 47 ¼“, 50 ¼“) 53 ½“, 56 ¾“, 60“ worn with 5-10 cm 2“ – 4“ positive ease.
I am wearing a size 3 with 8 cm 3“ positive ease. If you like more or less ease, please have a look at the size table, to choose a size that matches your needs.

Gauge: 22 sts x 32 Rs (Rds) in pattern: 10cm 4” with N 3,5 mm (US 4), after washing
Slip stitch band: 27 R: 10 cm 4“ with N 2,75 mm (US 2), before washing

Yarn: 200, 250 (300, 300, 350) 400, 400, 500 g Amano „AWA“ (55% alpaca, 26% wool, 19% cotton; 300m 326 yds /100 g): colour “1123“ (Aqua)

Needles: Circular needles size 3,5 mm (US 4): 80-120 cm (32-40”)
2 DPNs 2,75 mm (US 2) to work slip stitch band
Circular needles size 2,5 mm (US 1,5): 80 cm (32“)
Or needle sizes to obtain gauge.

Notions: 2 markers, one of different colour to mark the beg of Rd, 2 removeable markers, Barber Cord or left over yarn to set stitches to rest, tapestry needle, measuring tape, if necessary: 1-3 cable needles or DPNs.

Warum nicht top-down UND reversible?

Also von oben nach unten gestrickt und dann auch noch beidseitig schön…. Gute Idee.

Um das möglich zu machen, habe ich eine neue Technik entwickelt, mit der Maschen angeschlagen/aufgefasst werden können. Da ich diese besondere Art und Weise noch nirgendwo sonst gesehen habe, nehme ich mir die Freiheit, diese Technik “Silke Ufers Signature Cast-on” kurz “SUS-Cast-on” zu nennen. Für die Zukunft plane ich bereits mehr Anleitungen, die meinen Signature Cast-on nutzen. Seid gespannt auf Frühling/Sommer 2026.

Das lässige Kurzarmshirt mit V-Ausschnitt wird zunächst in Reihen, dann in Runden von oben abwärts gestrickt.

Damit das Shirt von beiden Seiten keine sichtbaren Nähte, Anschlagkanten oder ähnlich störende Elemente hat, habe ich mir etwas Besonderes ausgedacht: Ein Hebemaschenband bildet die Basis für die Rücken- und Vorderteilmaschen.

Gleichzeitig werden alle Abschlusskanten mit Hebemaschen gearbeitet und bilden einen sauberen Abschluss.

Das Strukturmuster ist von beiden Seiten sehr hübsch, es startet jedoch gleich in den verkürzten Reihen, hier ist volle Konzentration nötig.

Wenn dir das zu kompliziert ist, gleich in den verkürzten Reihen mit einem Muster zu starten oder du magst es lieber einfach, dann kannst du das Shirt auch z.B. glatt rechts arbeiten und hast dennoch die Möglichkeit, auch die linke Seite nach außen zu tragen.

Größen: 1, 2 (3, 4, 5) 6, 7, 8. Umfang fertiges Strickstück: 96, 104 (112, 120, 128) 136, 144, 152 cm 37 ¾“, 41“ (44“, 47 ¼“, 50 ¼“) 53 ½“, 56 ¾“, 60“ getragen mit 5-10 cm 2“ – 4“ Mehrweite.
Ich trage hier eine Größe 3 mit 8 cm 3“ Mehrweite. Wenn weniger oder mehr Mehrweite gewünscht ist, entweder eine kleinere oder größere Größe stricken, hierfür in der Größentabelle auf Seite 2 die gewünschte Größe auswählen.
