Venus Rising is a beaded and lacy, top-down, crescent shaped shawl designed to be knit in almost any solid coloured, or semi-solid, laceweight yarn of around 800m/100g with the exception of alpaca-based yarns – you will need a yarn base that will retain its shape after blocking.

Size: As written 80” (204cm) wide, 19.5” (49cm) deep after blocking. Measurements taken using Fyberspates Gleem Lace 800m/100g. Final measurements will depend on yarn used, tension and blocking and are given as a guide only.

Circular Needles: 3.5mm (US4), 3.75mm (US5) and 4mm (US6) about 1m in length or needles to create a pleasing fabric – your fabric should not be too dense and should have good drape.

You will also need: stitch markers, just under 1050 Miyuki or Toho size 6 seed beads, 1mm crotat hook or 0.75mm crochet hook, needle (for weaving in ends), blocking pins and mats.

The pattern is both fully written and charted with bead placement clearly indicated throughout.

You will find it useful to print your pattern on a colour printer, however coloured pencils could be used to highlight aspects of the pattern and bead placement.
