After creating my “Wear ‘em Up, Wear ‘em Down” Gauntlets, inspired by those worn by Claire in the show Outlander, I realized I wanted a hat to wear with them. This is what I came up with – a slouch hat kind of like the tams the men wear on the show (but slouching to the back rather than to the side) with the same band and the same cable pattern as the gauntlets.

Also needed:

  • Cable needle
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • I also used a pair of Size-1 circular needles for picking up stitches and knitting them together with the live stitches in the hat band

By the way - you can wear it sideways as you would a tam as well as backwards as pictured in the pattern. (Thanks to my darling husband for pointing that out to me!) :)
