Warm thanks to the moms at the Warren Public Library Knit & Play group for allowing their adorable tots to pose wearing my design!

This hat is my redesign of the “Swirled Ski Cap” pattern published by the Craft Yarn Council of America in 2007. One of the partners at the Artisans’ Gallery in Waitsfield, Vermont asked me to try out the pattern. I tried it and thought it could use a bit of re-work. After several experiments, I ended up with a baby hat that looks sort of like a soft-serve ice cream cone. In Vermont, soft-serve is called “Creemee” (pronounced creamy) and comes in a variety of single and combo flavors. This pattern is fun to knit, but does require paying attention while knitting. On the plus side, it is easy to adjust away any small errors. I’ve never had to take out a row or two to fix something. In other words, minor errors won’t show on this pattern, except in the ribbing section!
