Very Warm Hat by Elizabeth Zimmermann

Very Warm Hat

This pattern uses two (or more) shades of a medium weight yarn to make an extremely warm, reversible hat. Quick and satisfying project, good way to practice colorwork.

Tuck one end into the other and the hat becomes double-thick and reversible.

Materials: 4 oz medium weight wool; use 2-ply Icelandic for super warmth. A 16” circular needle and a set of double pointed needles, approximately #5-6. Oddments of wool for color patterns (optional).

Gauge: 5 stitches to 1”. (If worked at a gauge of 4 stitches to 1”, cast on 20% fewer stitches.)
