NOTE: If you bought this pattern in the past, you will have the free updated file in your Ravelry Library. I have updated this 2018 pattern file with my current format and style, and I’ve added a stitch chart to help you get started.

One of the things we found in my beloved grandparent’s house after they both passed away after 70 years of marriage was a box of very old love letters and Valentine cards. Their romance was back in the early 1900’s, and they only saw each other occasionally in town or at a community dance. They kindled their romance by writing beautiful letters and poems, and by sending romantic Valentines to each other by mail. The Valentines were amazing works of art, being very lacy and intricate.

My Vintage Romance scarf reminds me of these old vintage Valentines and romantic lace. The scarf, using one skein of sock or fingering weight yarn (of at least 435 yards), starts and ends with a few stitches and the edging is crocheted without breaking the yarn.

For my scarf I used Lone Star Arts Mockingbird Sock yarn in the colorway “Queen of Hearts” for my lacy romantic look. But, any solid color, hand-painted or speckle fingering or sock yarn you choose will produce a beautiful scarf for any occasion!
