My Grandma loved flowers, especially violets and pansies. I can’t remember a time we went for a visit where her kitchen wasn’t adorned with planters full of purple and pink flowers. So when I came across the pattern for this sweet little flower lace stitch, I couldn’t help but think of her, and I designed this hat with Violetta in mind.

This micro-striped hat is knit in a lightweight fingering yarn with just a touch of lace to make it cool enough to wear late in the fall and early into the spring. It’s designed to be slouchy and worn set back on your head as a fun accessory, but it can also be pulled down low over the ears for warmth.

The striping is achieved by changing colors on every round, or you could experiment with a fun self-striping yarn. The easy lace pattern keeps your attention while still being simple enough to enjoy some conversation with friends or to watch your latest TV binge.

YARN
You will need approximately 116 yds (106 m) / 25 g of each color for a total of 232 yds (212 m) / 50 g of fingering weight yarn.

The sample was knit with:
Knit Picks Palette (100% Peruvian Highland Wool, 2-ply fingering weight; 231 yds (211 m) / 50 g per ball, in Clematis Heather (MC) and Oregon Coast Heather (CC).
