The Viti Fair Isle Beanie is a slightly slouchy, mid-weight hat that makes the perfect winter accessory.

It features a traditional Norwegian star motif that looks good in traditional colors but looks amazing (and is fun to knit) in bright colors too!

The pattern was inspired by traditional Norwegian Selbu mitten patterns. The word “viti” is an old Finnish word meaning “freshly fallen, powdery snow” (yes, the motif is Norwegian inspired, but my mom’s side of my family is Finnish!).

It is knit in DK/worsted weight yarn (I’ve used Tosh DK and Malabrigo Rios, which is a light worsted weight yarn) which makes it a great all season hat!

The stranded color work makes this hat less stretchy than many other knit hat patterns, but I’ve provided instructions for adjusting the size if needed.
