This amigurumi voodoo doll can be made with any yarn. Just make sure to use a hook size smaller than you usually would, to keep your stitches tight. This is what I used:

50 grams of cotton in main color (I used Catania cotton)
Scrap yarn in contrasting color
Scrap yarn in red or pink
1 button
Fiberfill

Hook size 3mm
Scissors
Needle
Stitch marker

Abbreviations
ch = chain
ss = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
tr = treble crochet
( ) = repeat instructions between brackets the entire row
1 = stitch count after this round
