A beautifully all-over cabled pullover, designed by Norah S Gaughan for Rowan, has a straight, oversized silhouette and rolled cuff, hem and collar detail.

Back, front and sleeve pieces are knitted from the bottom up, flat, in the cable pattern, then the rolled-edge trims are picked up and knitted using smaller needles along the finished edges before pieces are seamed together for final assembly.

Written pattern with charts for cable design.

This sweater was one of several patterns designed for Rowan’s California Cotton yarn - “Made With Naturally Colored FOX FIBRE” - cotton varieties that grow in colors. While this design is featured in “Ecru”, the yarn was (it’s been discontinued) also offered in “Oyster”, “Sage”, “Oatmeal”, and “Honey”. The shade names by Rowan are good descriptions of the naturally occurring cotton colors.

A gorgeous early Gaughan design!
