Warm Embrace Cowl
This pattern gives a highly textured and vibrant cowl. The name comes from the fact that not only is it a warm and embracing, cosy cowl, but that aspects of each stitch pattern involve ‘embracing’ other stitches.
It is primarily a written pattern but has clear charts to illustrate each pattern section. Where relevant, charts include right-handed and left-handed versions.
I’ve rated this as Intermediate, as the skills required include: working stitches together, working into different rows and puff stitches. It calls for three different and highly contrasting colours in 8-ply (DK). It uses a 6.00mm hook so it works up nice and quickly. It could, of course, be worked in a single colour and a yarn that gives good stitch definition for a more subtle, yet highly textured cowl.
As written, the pattern will result in a cowl that measures 30cm (12in) across and 20cm (8in) high when lying flat. It can easily be adapted for a larger or smaller cowl.
