When Ellen from earthfaire.com asked me if I would like to design something for Luna, an exquisite yarn from The Unique Sheep which she sells exclusively, I took a look at their colorways and was immediately smitten. With so many stunning gradient sets I had a hard time picking one, especially since they offer a plethora of yarn qualities and weights. Eventually I chose Nimbus as a yarn base and Mermaid Boquet and Turquoise as colors.

After having been spoilt for choice I decided that I wanted to create a pattern that would be suitable for ALL colourways and weights without having to do the math. Therefore, Wavily comes in three different sizes - small, medium, and large. It allows you to pick two distinguishable yarns of the same weight, from lace to dk, cast-on and knit. You can knit either 2 waves (small), 3 waves (medium), or four waves (large). This way you can decide on the go which size will be the right one for you and the yarn of your choice. The yardage will depend on the weight of your yarn and how large you would like your Wavily shawl to be, but I recommend at least 400 yards of each color.

Wavily is fully reversible. Although it is a modular knit there is no seaming involved as you will join all the modules as you go. All instructions are written AND charted and are enriched with ample photo tutorials on the techniques of shaping and joining the modules. This makes Wavily a doable project for most knitters.

If you would like to knit this at some point in the future, don’t hesitate to get your pattern now as this weekend (6th / 7th of October EST) it is on sale for 25% off the original price of $5.99. No coupon necessary. So grab it while you can!!! :)

Happy knitting!
