This code is also valid for my “Everyday Companion” Shawlette pattern, which I published last summer.

The “Wavy Companion” Shawlette is a quick one skein project knitted sideways from tip to tip. It features a relaxing garter main part, an i-cord and a lovely wavy edge. Everything is knitted at the same time. The long, slim and rounded shape of the shawlette makes it easy to wear.

The pattern provides fully written and charted instructions. A checklist table makes it easy to keep track of your progress.

There are two different approaches to knitting this shawl: In addition to the classic one-skein pattern for Fingering weight yarn, you can also use any amount of yarn and adjust the shawlette size to your amount of yarn available. And the best thing is: you don’t even need to know the yardage of your yarn! All you need is a kitchen scale.
The pattern will of course accompany you with an easy-to-follow guide!

MATERIALS

Yarn:
One-skein-instructions: 1 x 100g (400m / 437 yards) of any Fingering weight yarn
--> yellow sample: Woollentwine BFL/Romney (400m/100g); used 92g
Made-to-yarn-amount-instructions: any amount of yarn you want to use. Any yarn from light Fingering to sport weight will work. I recommend using at least 60g or 250m / 273 yards and a maximum of 150g or 650 / 711 yards to get a wearable size for your “Wavy Companion” shawlette. (Choose your yarn amount based on weight or on yardage!)
--> red sample: Honer Och Eir Nutiden “Ottipad” (held single): 70g

Needles:
One-skein-instructions: 3.5 mm / US 4 needles (or needles to achieve gauge)
Made-to-yarn-amount-instructions: adapt needle size to achieve a drapy fabric

Gauge:
One-skein-instructions: 25 sts x 38 rows / 4 x 4 inches in garter stitch; blocked & dried
Made-to-yarn-amount-instructions: no specific gauge required

Notions:
2 stitch markers, tapestry needle, kitchen scale, T-pins for blocking

Finished Measurements:
One-skein-instructions: Center depth: 25 cm / 10 inches
Length / Wingspan: 166 cm / 66.5 inches
Made-to-yarn-amount-instructions: The finished measurements depend largely on the quantity of yarn and will vary.
