Wesley Romper
Wesley Romper is a one piece outfit knit top-down. It has contrast hems, slip-stitch sleeve details, and easy access buttons on top and bottom. Don’t worry, this pattern is beginner friendly, and has a photo tutorial for the contrast purl ridge hemming. It can be done with a contrast button band in front (pictured in green), or a contrast crochet loop closure in back (pictured in pink). I use Onion Yarn’s Organic Cotton because I love the color palette and the feel of the yarn. It is machine washable and has the bounce of wool, but in a summer weight cotton. However, feel free to substitute any similar weight (sport) yarn. If in doubt on the sizes, size up! Babies always grow, but rarely shrink, and a lot of us knit slower than we’d like, especially with little ones around.
Materials: 2, 2, 2, 3, (3, 3) skeins of Onion Yarn’s Organic Cotton (50g = 155m/170y) in main color
1 skein (will only use a small portion) of Onion Yarn’s Organic Cotton in contrast color
In photo above main color is grass green (120) and contrast color is navy (105)
Gauge: 21 x 26 to 4 inches/10cm in stockinette after wet blocking. Row gauge is not as important; the pattern gives lengths in cm.
Suggested Needles: US3 (3.25mm) or as needed for gauge (Swatch! Some testers had to go up to US 5/6 for gauge). Needles for knitting in the round using your chosen method (DPNs, circulars, magic loop).
Notions: 9 stitch markers, one in unique color for beginning of round. Darning needle. Waste yarn or
stitch holder.
